XROOF® is a modular system for green roofing in industrial, commercial, and residential construction. It stores rainwater, extends the lifespan of the roof membrane, and is available in 2 build-up heights, 65 and 80 mm. Manufactured from 100% post-consumer recycled plastics from our own XSOURCE® material management system. Know-how with a system.

Green Roofing
The smart retention green roof system from CONVERTA
Benefits of XROOF® Green Roofing
Make your building future-proof
The largest unused storage space is directly above us: the roof. A green roof retains precipitation, cools through evaporation, binds particulate matter, and doubles the lifespan of the membrane beneath it. Anyone building or renovating today who leaves the roof gray is building for a climate that no longer exists.

Green roofing with XROOF® cassettes
An XROOF cassette is a precise piece of hydraulic engineering made from plastic. Installed on the roof, it directs every drop of rain in three steps: first capture, then retain, and finally allow evaporation through plants.
The smart green roofing of the future
The XROOF layer system
with RETENT inlay
Our innovative inlay ensures perfect drainage. While the plants are supplied with sufficient water through the domes via capillary action, the entire lower area remains free for pure water. Drainage on layers: that’s what makes our patent-pending system so smart. Are you interested in unplanted cassettes? Please feel free to contact us!
Variable planting
Simply extensive…
Low-maintenance, lightweight, and undemanding. Sedum plants require little substrate, little water, and no regular irrigation. One to two inspections per year are sufficient.
…to biodiverse.
More color, more diversity, more life. Herbs, wildflowers, and grasses bloom throughout the entire season and attract bees and butterflies. Almost like a biotope on the roof.

Simple, fast, flexible. Green roofing becomes a no-brainer.
A green roof can be built in two ways. Classically with three to four separate layers: protective layer, drainage element, filter fleece, substrate; or systemically with an integrated cassette. XROOF consistently follows the second approach: drainage, water storage, and substrate carrier are one component, not an assembly. This results in the differences that matter in planning, installation, and operation.
Two build-up heights, one logic.
Whether 65 or 80 mm: the build-up remains the same, only the cassette height changes.
Simple installation without specialists.
One person can install a carport in one afternoon. For roof repairs, cassettes can simply be temporarily set aside and replaced after completion.
Impact even before production.
All XROOF products from CONVERTA are manufactured from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic.
PV-compatible by design.
A green roof cools and demonstrably increases the efficiency of a PV system by around four percent on average over the year.
Not a flat roof? No problem.
Roof pitches up to 25° can usually be greened without any issues.
XROOF® 65
LIGHT
Lightweight: green roof without structural modifications
When structural capacity is limited, every kilogram counts. The XROOF® 65 is the lightest variant in the system and makes greening possible even where other build-ups reach their limits.
- Structurally compatible
- Specially lightweight substrate
XROOF® 80
PRO
Our easily fundable option*
Thanks to numerous funding programs in many European countries, for example in Germany at federal, state, and municipal levels, attractive financial assistance and grants can be applied for greening projects. These programs help to significantly reduce the investment costs for your project. Particularly advantageous for you: our product is eligible for funding in most cases.
- Easily fundable

XROOF® 80
BIOTOP
Biodiversity for the roof
A biodiverse sedum roof consists of more than just sedum plants. It also contains flowering herbs, native flowers, and ornamental grasses.
- More color – sedum roof with flowers
- More food – nectar and pollen, a green roof for bees and butterflies.
- More resilience – more variation means a healthier and stronger ecosystem.
XROOF® 80
RETENT
The module for maximum water retention
Combines conventional green roofing with a retention roof.
- 14.6 l per m² pure water retention beneath the RETENT inlay
- Substrate savings
- Weight savings with the same water retention capacity
- Domes with capillary action

FAQ
What distinguishes XROOF from conventional green roof systems?
Classic build-ups consist of three to four separate layers: protective layer, drainage, filter fleece, and substrate. With XROOF, drainage, water storage, and substrate carrier are a single component. This significantly shortens installation time, makes roof repairs straightforward (cassettes can be individually removed and replaced), and enables later conversions, such as from retention roof to PV surface, without replacing the entire system.
Is a green roof financially worthwhile?
Yes, in most cases it pays off. Many municipalities support green roofing with grants between 10 and 50 euros per m² and reduce or waive stormwater fees. In addition, there is the extended lifespan of the roof membrane (factor 2 to 3) and the noticeably lower energy demand for air conditioning in summer. We recommend inquiring with your municipality about current funding programs before starting your project.
How high is the maintenance effort?
Very low. In the first one to two years after installation, we recommend two to three inspections per year; after that, one inspection is usually sufficient. During these inspections, volunteer seedlings such as birch or grasses are removed, drains are checked, and the roof is supplied with a mineral slow-release fertilizer once a year. An extensive XROOF roof does not need to be irrigated; the plants manage with the retained rainwater.
Can my old roof even support a green roof?
In most cases, yes. A saturated XROOF® 65 system weighs around 55 kg per m² and is well below what most flat roofs already have as load reserve. We still recommend a professional assessment by a structural engineer or roofer before every project, also to evaluate connections and waterproofing.
Do I need to hire a specialist for installation?
No. XROOF cassettes arrive pre-planted at the construction site and are installed without hot bitumen, without adhesive, and without training. One person can green a carport roof in one afternoon. For larger projects such as commercial or industrial roofs, we are happy to work with experienced roofing companies, but this is not technically necessary.
